Kicks and Rear Suspension

A really exciting couple of weeks since the last post....kicks are no longer exclusive to Nays, I've felt them - twice. Not, I might add, in my belly but in Nays belly. We even saw the movement, which was amazing, its like there's contact been made, and now there's 3 of us on the sofa watching Eastenders. I love it. Also, we got the buggy which I'm way too excited about really, but its got 3 wheels, suspension, brakes and hardcore tyres and it folds down with such a smooth motion it can only be looked upon and admired really. Lil'pro is one lucky baby.

Who's Eyes Then?

Its a pretty amazing thing seeing something you've created in all its glory. Its one thing seeing an outline, something that could be a baby or a cauliflower or some other shape, but when you see a face looking back at you, arms and legs moving around and a thumb being sucked...thats damn cool. Fortunately there was no evidence of the Hawkins' nose.

Rumble in the Jungle

Things are moving pretty fast now. Nays belly seems to get bigger everytime I get home from work. She's started to feel movements too which is really mad, still can't feel any kicking from the outside but she knows its there. We cleared the small bedroom out for the baby which was quite a strange feeling, its like preparing the room for a new housemate or something, its weird to think that in 4 months time there'll be 3 of us living here. Been putting off buying stuff but that needs to start too, the list gives me a headache but its got to be done. Mom and Dad came down and brought Willy and the Square World, my favourite book when I was little so thats in place ready for me to read. Not sure whether its a particularly good idea exposing a baby to Jeffrey Archer at such a young age but it tugs the heart strings anyway.

Getting Round

Its been a while since the last post but things have been far from static in Naomi's belly. After a month that started with our first picture for the family album, there is a definite roundness beginning to take shape, and a real sense of something living inside Nays. All is going very well at the moment, everyone knows now and it was amazing showing people the scan picture, but I'm a little concerned that the mood swings are yet to materialise, I think maybe they're being saved up and with a month left I'll get tumble dryered. But I'm not complaining. Nays has her appetite back and she's not so tired, though as I write this she's sleeping at 4 in the afternoon (her boss won't be reading this), and I'm soldiering on, its tough though. We went to Brighton last weekend for Herb's 30th (yes 30th) and Kristy brought her ultrasonic microphone thingy that lets you hear the baby's heartbeat. I was a bit unsure cos its one of those things that can cause panic if you don't hear what you think you should, but it was amazing, the little heart was pounding away clear as day, its those things that make you realise how amazing this whole thing is. And also think f**k.

Feel the Beat

After a pretty fraught few days in the life of lil pro, that brought some genuine concerns, Nays was sent for an early scan today. Bit worried and nervous, we were assured all was fine but just a precaution. Perhaps not how it was supposed to be but the moment the nurse put the ultra sound thing on Nays belly and immediatly exclaimed "well, you're babys fine" the tone changed and all was good. You can't prepare for the moment you first see your babys arms and legs and heart beating ten to the dozen, and a further suprise was confirmation that we were actually two and a half weeks further on than we thought. So, November 11th is the new date, my Mom a bit excited about the fact that lil pro could enter the world on the same day that she did....now theres a worrying thought. No twins though, which in reality is a good thing, the debate continues about finding out the sex, which will be possible in about 2 months, the only further thing I can say is woh, crazy. Nays is OK now, still getting tired but the sickness seems to have passed. We're off to the coast for the weekend for Becs 21st so it'll be crap that she can't drink, but she's still handling it well, and people will be so excited about the scan pics she probably won't even notice, and me, well I get a chauffeur!

Who called 2's?

The midwife made her first visit yesterday. We now have lots of stuff to read, but its really interesting and amazing how this whole thing works. You take it for granted, don't think about it really, but its all very cool. We have the first scan booked now, about a month away, its really exciting because thats when things will really hit home and this will become so much more real. The twins thing keeps coming into my head for some reason. I have a feeling. I read that its more likely if there are twins on the female's side of the family and they skip a generation - Nays Dad - CHECK. And I read yesterday that if you're feeling like you're further gone than
you actually are, or you're feeling bigger, then thats a symptom - Nays has been saying all of the above since we found out - CHECK. Finally, if you're getting very sick and nauseus this could be a symtom too - Nays was very sick and nauseus yesterday - CHECK. OK,
that last ones a bit of a longshot, but 2 lil' pro's, can you imagine?

Spread the word

Eight weeks....even though its a bit early, we couldn't keep it in so we told the parents, who were understandably overjoyed - some great reactions, and then told everyone camping this weekend (even though Dyke, Kristy and Benny already knew due to my monumental slip-up in publishing this blog). The reaction was really nice, everyone was made up and talked about little 'pro' non-stop. Nays has been cool, she's been knackered and been feeling sick quite a bit but camping seemed to relieve her of that, which is a sign that the little one will take to it I reckon. Kristy was great and gave us loads of advice, like our own personal midwife. Its easy to be a bit neurotic at this stage but we've need to remember to stay cool.
